Shopping in supermarkets reinforces consumers’ familiarity with barcodes. Barcodes are scanned at the check-out counter where the price, name etc. of the product is displayed. A barcode consists of a series of bars and a number code.
Large manufactured items also need barcodes for data retention. Until now, engraving or laser technology was utilized in their production. All other barcode labels are printed on product packaging using various printing processes (screen printing, offset printing, etc.).
All barcode labels have to be individually produced, because the retained product data or number code can generally be only used once. This can quickly lead to enormous printing costs. Especially when the barcode labels are made out of metal or plastic.
At last there is an alternative. PrintoLUX introduced a revolutionary printing process, which it has since patented. Using PrintoLUX’s printing hardware with the accompanying software, companies can now print their own signage.
This new process, coupled with PrintoLUX’s printing technology can also be applied for the production of barcode labels. Only PrintoLUX certified materials and their thermosetting ink should be used during barcode label printing.
